  • Consistent massage has a cumulative benefit: much like changing your diet or increasing your exercise, improved flexibility and well-being will be noticed with consistent massage. Chronic conditions and/or pain may necessitate more frequent appointments. It depends on your needs. We recommend once or twice per month, but everybody is different. Please talk with any of our therapists for more information.
  • If you have cardiovascular or neurological conditions, diabetes, cancer, warts, skin issues, or are pregnant or have other medical conditions that may affect sensation, circulation, or the health of your feet/body, please make us aware so as not to place yourself at risk. Some medical conditions may require a signed doctor’s release prior to receiving treatment, but massage is helpful for most medical conditions, as long as we know what they are. Please be thorough and honest on your intake form so that we have all the information that we need.
  • Absolutely! Receiving bodywork is an opportunity to release tension that has accumulated in the body due to stress, physical activity, injuries, repetitive usage, and/or holding patterns. Massage brings awareness to areas in your body that need attention. It also helps your mind connect with your body and helps to ground you to your whole self and your surroundings. It increases flexibility, which aids everybody, including performers and athletes. It’s wonderful for children as well, especially if they’re experiencing stress, anxiety, trouble sleeping, etc. Everybody benefits from getting a massage!
  • You have probably heard the claim that massage releases toxins from the body, (what are these undefined “toxins” anyway, one might ask?). What is indisputable is that massage increases local circulation in the areas that are worked on. Increased circulation speeds up metabolic processes, which includes the process of elimination. All metabolic wastes are excreted in a form of water solutes through the excretory organs. So if your metabolic processes are sped up, and they use a water based solution to eliminate the natural things that we eliminate on a daily basis, then we need to take in more water to return to homeostasis after receiving massage. This means drink that extra water after your massage. You may experience feeling light-headed or a little nauseous if you do not drink that extra water. Getting a massage is hard work for your body too!
  • You can choose whether you want to leave your underwear on or take it off, whichever you are most comfortable with. Only the area being worked on is uncovered. Other parts of the body remain covered with a sheet.
  • A deep tissue massage relaxes the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on contracted areas. It is called “deep tissue” because it focuses on deeper layers of muscle tissue.

Take some time. Treat yourself. You deserve it.
